Welcome to “Full-Service Catering” for the University of Chicago Community! Our mission is to provide you with exceptional quality, outstanding service, and a creative culinary experience. Our onsite Catering Team is happy to assist you with the planning of your event.

 

Events Overview:

  • For events under 100 guests, orders must be confirmed by our Catering Team at least three (3) business days prior to the date of the event.
  • For events exceeding 100 guests, orders must be confirmed by our Catering Team at least five (5) business days prior to the date of the event.
  • All events are required to meet service minimums. For events that generate less than the minimum number of guaranteed guests, the minimum guest count will remain applicable.
  • Based on the nature of your event, additional fees may apply.

Cancellations: 

  • For events under 100 guests, a notice of cancellation must be submitted in writing at least three (3) business days prior to the day of the event.
  • For events exceeding 100 guests, a notice of cancellation must be submitted at least five (5) business days prior to the day of the event.
  • Events will be charged in full if these cancelation deadlines are not honored.
  • Special consideration may be provided for weather related or natural disaster driven cancellations.

Guest Count Guarantees:

  • For events under 100 guests, a guaranteed guest count must be received three (3) business days prior to the event.
  • For events exceeding 100 guests, the guaranteed guest count must be received five (5) business days prior to the event.

Green/Sustainable Campus: 

  • Events will, depending upon building and function, include disposable and compostable plates, cups and plastic ware.
  • Upgraded disposables and china are available upon request for an additional fee.

Food Safety and Handling Policy: 

  • To ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety, UChicago Catering follows all local and federal food safety guidelines regarding the preparation, service, and disposal of food.
  • UChicago Catering does not provide to-go containers for any catered event. Once food has been served and is outside of the controlled kitchen environment, it cannot be safely stored or consumed later. Any remaining food at the conclusion of service will be disposed of in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Dietary Preferences and Restrictions: 

  • UC Catering is happy to accommodate most dietary preferences and allergy restrictions. However, if you are unsure or have any special requests, please do not hesitate to contact the Catering Team. 

Linen: 

  • Basic linen will be provided at no charge for all food and beverage displays.
  • Linen for seating tables, registration tables, or any other linen needs or upgrades can be provided and will be charged to the event.

Service Staff: 

  • Service staff are charged at an hourly rate with a four (4) hour minimum. 

Deliveries

  • There is a $75 delivery fee for all orders.
  • There is an additional $50 fee applied for all orders requiring a pickup. 

Tax Exemption: 
All internal UChicago events are considered to be tax exempt. External groups not associated with UChicago must provide a current certificate of Tax Exemption or be charged the current Sales Tax at a rate of 10.75%.
